1. Name – Ashton Moss
2. Office - Editor
3. School - Marist
4. Age - 17
5. Level of Latin - IV
6. What is your favorite aspect of Latin and why? – My favorite aspect of Latin is
poetry. I love to explore the different meters and literary devices that make each
poem so unique and special. The poem tells the reader so much about the poet
and how they viewed the world during the time in which they lived. We can gain
advice, lessons, and enjoyment by studying great poets like Ovid and Catullus.
7. What is something you are interested in outside of school/your academic work?
(give some details) – I enjoy playing golf and writing in my spare time. I play
golf for my school, and I also play competitive golf all over the southeast
throughout the year. When I have a lot on my mind or I need something
stimulating to do on a weekend, I love to write poetry. It helps me take my mind
off of all my problems and lose myself in the abyss of words.
8. Who is your favorite “classical” hero or villain and why? – My favorite hero is
Cincinnatus. I love reading his story and hearing about a man of such bravery and
character. It is amazing how he fought for his fatherland and then left all of his
potential glory power to return to his plow. I think that we can all learn
something from the great man Cincinnatus because we often find ourselves
consumed with power and money, and we have forgotten about the most
important things in life like happiness and family.
